Recognising the Next Generation of Facility Management and Maintenance Experts

Programmed proudly hosted its first Victorian and Utilities Apprentice and Trainee Awards evening, honouring the outstanding contributions of 41 Apprentices and Trainees across facility management, maintenance services, and water network operations. This milestone event brought together talent from diverse trades, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical fitting, showcasing the strength and future of Australia’s essential services.

Building Careers in High-Demand Trades

From school-based Apprentices and Trainees to 4th-year apprentices, attendees represented every stage of the journey. Senior leaders engaged directly with apprentices, hearing inspiring stories of growth and resilience. Each conversation reinforced Programmed’s commitment to career development, safety, and best practice standards—critical pillars for success in high-risk industries like utilities and water infrastructure.

Safety First: A Core Value for Longevity

Safety remains at the heart of Programmed’s operations. Apprentices expressed appreciation for our strong safety culture, recognising its role in sustaining long-term careers in maintenance and facility management. This focus ensures every tradesperson can work confidently while delivering quality outcomes for clients.

The evening culminated in recognising exceptional individuals who exemplify resilience, skill, and leadership  and their commitment and diligence in their schooling:

  • Resilience Award – Rhiannon Smolski
  • Rising Star Award – Mohamad Al Eid
  • Graduate Apprentice of the Year – Nicholas Georgiou
  • New Apprentice of the Year – Jacob King
  • Senior Apprentice of the Year – Sam de Losa
  • Apprentice or Trainee Mentor Award – Brian Whitehouse

 


Driving Success Through Support and Mentorship

The Apprentice and Trainee Committee has worked tirelessly to ensure apprentices, trainees, and mentors are well-supported and informed. Their efforts have created an environment where talent thrives, and careers flourish in facility management, maintenance, and water network services.
