Partnering with WARRRL to support sustainability on Wadjemup Rottnest Island

Making a positive impact on the environment by recycling our containers and minimising waste.

In Western Australia, beverage containers make up a massive 41%* of all litter, even though they’re made from easily recyclable materials such as glass, plastic, aluminium, and cardboard.

Western Australia Return Recycle Renew Limited (WARRRL) is a not-for-profit organisation striving to increase recycling rates and reduce litter with its Containers for Change program – and we’re thrilled to share their new partnership with us here at Programmed!

Under this new agreement, Programmed will provide essential waste management services, focusing on the collection and recycling of containers deposited in designated bins across the island.

Through Containers for Change, Western Australians can return empty eligible containers for a 10-cent refund, which can either be kept for themselves or donated to a registered charity, community group or not-for-profit.

The initiative empowers WA communities with the knowledge and motivation to easily recycle, reducing waste and litter and aligning directly with Programmed’s own sustainability goals.

Our team has embraced the initiative with enthusiasm, recognising the positive impact it will have on the island’s environment and wider community.

We’re super proud to support Containers for Change and are committed to making a difference through our waste management services. This partnership represents a meaningful contribution to the island’s sustainability efforts, and we look forward to continuing this journey for many years to come.

Together, we will create a cleaner, greener future for Wadjemup Rottnest Island and beyond.
