Work and Smile: People of Programmed - Meet Daniel, Mick, and Cheryl

Dec 3, 2025 1:19:45 PM | Culture & Community Work and Smile: People of Programmed - Meet Daniel, Mick, and Cheryl

Meeting the people whose leadership and dedication bring our Work and Smile vision to life.

We recently introduced our new PERSOL and Programmed Work and Smile ad campaigns, finding us back on the road and hearing directly from our people about what gives them that sense of fulfilment.

In our Work and Smile: People of Programmed series, we get a closer look at the deeper stories behind the star Programmed talent featured in the ads.

Meet Daniel Petrovic - Operations Manager

Dan’s story was captured in Perth, WA, where he shares how curiosity and continuous learning have shaped his career journey. 🎥✨

From plumber… to Drone Pilot – and now Chief Drone Pilot. 🚁

Dan’s career is a story of curiosity, adaptability, and saying “yes” to new opportunities.

After joining Programmed, Dan became part of the initial pilot group trained in Digital Asset Capture – a natural fit for someone who has always loved drones and exploring new technologies.

Outside of work, Dan is a proud dad and finds constant inspiration in his wife’s dedication to their children and her meaningful charity work supporting families affected by FOP.

Known for taking the scenic route (literally), Dan brings that same spirit of discovery to his work, understanding customer challenges and finding smarter ways Programmed can help keep their facilities safe, efficient, and running at their best.

Some takeaways from Dan’s time in WA with the film crew:

“Filming the ad was definitely outside my comfort zone, but I’m glad I said yes. The team made the whole experience comfortable, and the Western Australia crew were accommodating from the moment I landed until the moment I left. One highlight of the trip was visiting Leighton Beach after work, where I joined hundreds of onlookers watching two mother whales and their calves play only 100 metres from shore. An incredible wildlife moment.”

Meet Mick Quick - Maintenance Carpenter

Born and raised in Geraldton, Mick spent part of his early adulthood serving in the Army in Townsville before returning home to complete his Carpentry Trades certification. What he enjoys most about carpentry is the satisfaction of seeing a project come to life, whether it’s a well-built deck or a completed kitchen fitout, he puts tremendous care into ensuring tenants feel comfortable and supported in their homes.

Mick takes great pride in his work, especially in recent projects where his attention to detail has directly improved the quality of living for Social Housing tenants. For him, carpentry isn’t just a trade, it’s a chance to create safe, functional and welcoming spaces for the community.

Returning to Geraldton also meant returning to family. Now raising his own young family, Mick values the opportunity to work close to home and looks forward to passing on his skills, knowledge and love for building to his kids one day.

Mick’s story reflects the heart of Work and Smile – finding pride in your craft, contributing to your community, and creating spaces that genuinely make life better for others.

Mick’s take on filming the ad:

“It definitely wasn’t your average day as a tradie, but I really enjoyed filming the ad – and having a good laugh at ourselves along the way.”

Meet Cheryl Prentice - Regional Manager, Resources & Energy

From Perth to Golden Grove, Karratha to Mt Isa, Cheryl works closely with our Resource contracts to ensure our teams feel supported and our customers receive the high-quality service they rely on. Her passion and fulfillment lies in seeing people grow – helping team members develop their skills, step into new opportunities and build long, rewarding careers.

Cheryl’s own journey reflects that same spirit. Starting as a Contract Manager, she now oversees multiple operations across the state. When our Karratha operations team needed on-the-ground leadership while establishing a new office, she and her family didn’t hesitate to make the move north to support them.

Now back in Perth, Cheryl continues to spend time on sites across WA and QLD, rolling up her sleeves, putting on the hi-vis and work boots, and working alongside the teams she leads.

Known for her positive, can-do attitude and deep expertise in facility management, Cheryl brings out the best in the people around her, helping all of us to succeed, and making her Work and Smile.

“Sharing a day in the life of some of our team onsite and my own story felt meaningful,
” said Cheryl, speaking on her filming experience. “The filming came together with ease, and while the weather was against us, it was great to see the vibrant colours of the landscape, and the remoteness of where we work in the regions.”
