ANZAC Day 2026 - Lest We Forget

Written by Facility Management | Apr 22, 2026 12:16:28 AM

As we approach ANZAC Day on 25 April, we pause to reflect on the significance of this important day for Australia and New Zealand. ANZAC Day is a time to honour and remember the courage, service and sacrifice of those who have served, past and present, and to acknowledge the impact of their service on families, communities and our nations.

Observed annually on 25 April, ANZAC Day commemorates the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) at Gallipoli during the First World War. It is a day of remembrance that continues to hold deep meaning across generations, reminding us of the values of courage, mateship, resilience and service.

Recognising Defence Force connections across our workplace

Last year, a voluntary poll helped us better understand the Defence Force connections within our business. We learned that 6% of our permanent workforce has a direct or indirect connection to the Defence Force, including employees themselves, their partners, parents, family members and chosen family. This included 42 individuals with direct personal service experience.

These connections reflect the deep and meaningful ties many people across Programmed have to the Defence community. We are proud to recognise and acknowledge these connections as we honour the service and sacrifice of all who have served, and those who continue to serve.

At Programmed, we are honoured to have veterans and Defence connected employees contributing their skills, experience and perspectives to our workforce each day. We extend our sincere thanks for their service to our nations.

Ways we honour ANZAC Day

To honour ANZAC Day respectfully, we encourage all employees to take a moment of reflection and remembrance. Here are a few ways you can pay your respects:

  • Attend a Dawn Service:

Many communities across Australia and New Zealand hold Dawn Services to mark the beginning of ANZAC Day. Participating in these services can be a meaningful way to pay tribute to our fallen heroes.

  • Observe a Minute of Silence: At 11:00 AM, pause for a minute of silence to reflect on the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women. This simple act of remembrance is a powerful way to honour their memory.

  • Participate in Commemorative Events: Joining local commemorative events, such as marches or wreath-laying ceremonies, provides an opportunity to show your gratitude and support for our Veterans and their families.

As we observe ANZAC Day, let us also extend our gratitude to those who continue to serve our countries with dedication and honour. Their commitment to protecting our values and way of life is a testament to the enduring spirit of ANZAC.

Lest we forget.

We recognise that ANZAC Day can evoke a range of emotions, and we encourage everyone to reach out to our EAP for support if needed.
