Wear It Purple Day is coming up on Friday 28 August, and we're inviting everyone across Programmed to get involved.
This year's theme, Colours of Courage, celebrates the everyday courage shown by LGBTQIA+ young people, allies and communities. It's a reminder that small actions, whether learning more, speaking up, showing support or creating inclusive spaces, can make a meaningful difference. The theme recognises the many ways people show courage every day and celebrates the diversity of identities, experiences and stories within LGBTQIA+ communities.
To mark the occasion, we're pleased to once again host a Wear It Purple Day webinar facilitated by our diversity partner, Pride in Diversity, providing an opportunity to learn more about inclusion, allyship and the role we can all play in creating workplaces where everyone feels they belong. If you'd like to attend please register via the below link.
How you can get involved
At Programmed, we're committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels safe, respected and valued for who they are.
Wear It Purple Day is a valuable opportunity to learn, build awareness and demonstrate support for LGBTQIA+ young people. However, inclusion isn't built in a single day. It's shaped by the everyday actions, conversations and behaviours that help people feel safe, respected and valued for who they are.
Whether you wear purple, attend the webinar, display a poster, update your Teams background or start a conversation with your team, every action contributes to a culture where everyone feels they belong.
There are plenty of ways to show your support this Wear It Purple Day:
- Attend our Pride in Diversity webinar.
- Wear purple on Friday 28 August.
- Use a Wear It Purple Teams background.
- Display a poster in your workplace.
- Share the Wear It Purple Toolbox Talk with your team.
- Learn more about LGBTQIA+ inclusion and how to support rainbow communities.
- Start conversations about inclusion, belonging and allyship.
- Continue creating inclusive workplaces through everyday actions and behaviours.
