Creating opportunities during Melbourne Work Experience Week with Clontarf

Oct 14, 2026, 10:29:59 AM | Culture & Community Creating opportunities during Melbourne Work Experience Week with Clontarf

Broadening horizons, building confidence and inspiring future career ambitions.

This year’s Melbourne Work Experience Week provided a unique and rewarding experience for senior Victorian Clontarf Academy students, and we were proud to welcome students Malakai, Jhye and Ryan to spend a few days with Programmed.

Work Experience Week is designed to give Clontarf Academy students exposure to career and life experiences they may not otherwise have access to in their hometowns. The week commenced with an Opening Breakfast on the Yarra River, bringing together students and corporate partners to connect, build relationships and celebrate the opportunities ahead.

Throughout their time the students gained valuable insight into a range of industries and career pathways. A highlight was spending a day with our Property Services Commercial Painting team at the MCG. Following a behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic stadium, the students had the opportunity to experience painting-related tasks and learn more about careers in the industry.

The following day, the students visited the ANZ Head Office in Docklands, where Danny Pither, ANZ National Account Manager for Electrical Technologies, provided a tour of the impressive workplace and showcased the audiovisual and electrical solutions delivered by Programmed Electrical Technologies team. The students also visited our Collins Street office to learn about different business functions, meet employees and gain a broader understanding of the diverse career opportunities available within our organisation.

To conclude their experience with us, the students presented their key learnings and future aspirations to the Programmed team, giving them an opportunity to speak publicly and step outside their comfort zone.

The Clontarf Foundation plays a vital role in supporting young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men to remain engaged in education and pursue meaningful employment pathways. Experiences such as Work Experience Week help broaden horizons, build confidence and inspire future career ambitions.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed their time and expertise to make the week such a memorable experience. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Clontarf and creating more opportunities for students in the future.
