Today, I am thrilled to share the appointment of Matthew Cotterall as Executive General Manager for Programmed Facility Management.
With a wealth of FM industry and professional services experience spanning over 20 years, Matthew has consistently demonstrated his strengths in building and leading high-performing teams that deliver exceptional outcomes for our customers as Programmed Facility Management’s Head of FM for New Zealand, since 2022.
Matthew was originally drawn to Programmed by our strong emphasis on people, customers, and our special Programmed culture, and having deeply invested into these areas throughout his time here, we are delighted to see him step into this essential role and guide our journey forward.
A wealth of Facility Management experience
Prior to joining Programmed, Matthew led the development and growth of OCS New Zealand’s Facilities Management business, responsible for establishing and scaling OCS’ national hard FM capability and integrated service models.
Earlier, as Country Manager for Ventia New Zealand, he held overall accountability for operational performance and business growth of Ventia’s Facilities Management business, leading a comprehensive performance improvement program that strengthened governance and lifted service outcomes.
As Head of FM – New Zealand, Matthew has positioned Programmed as a trusted partner to an established customer base comprised of significant, tier one, blue chip organisations, with responsibility for maintaining over 5,800 customer sites across New Zealand.
His role has seen the growth of our NZ team to over 400 team members, as well as growing our NZ business with new customers such as Transpower, significantly enhancing our reputation and credibility in the NZ market as a leading national provider of FM services.
We are excited to see him continue this strong trajectory of delivering outstanding outcomes for Programmed, our customers, and our teams as the leader of Programmed Facility Management across ANZ.

Matthew’s career journey is a significant example of our passion for creating real opportunities for our people to grow their careers within Programmed. Matthew’s appointment as EGM of Programmed Facility Management completes the picture of our new Programmed organisational structure.
As Matthew steps into this role, he will spend time connecting with teams across the business and building on the strong foundations already in place. I look forward to working closely with and supporting both Matthew and our Programmed Leadership Team in this next chapter.
