Plastic Free July, a global environmental campaign that encourages individuals, businesses, and communities to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics and build more sustainable habits. Founded in Western Australia in 2011, Plastic Free July has grown into a worldwide movement, empowering millions of people to take simple, practical steps to reduce plastic waste.
The campaign is built around a simple idea: choose to refuse single-use plastics. Common examples of what you can choose to refuse are:
-
Retail shopping bags
-
Fruit and vegetable plastic bags
-
Disposable coffee cups
-
Single use water bottles
-
Straws

Across PERSOL | Programmed, the choices we make every day, how we procure materials, operate on sites, and manage waste, all contribute to our overall environmental footprint. Small, consistent actions can lead to meaningful long-term impacts.
We continue to focus on improving waste management practices and reducing environmental impacts across our operations. Employees are encouraged to identify opportunities to reduce single-use plastics and, where possible, transition to preferred waste providers at their locations to support better reporting and sustainability outcomes. More information is available on the Preferred Vendors page on the IMS.
Plastic Free July reminds us that reducing waste doesn’t require perfection, it starts with small, practical changes. By taking part, we can contribute to cleaner environments, reduce pollution, and embed more sustainable practices into our daily operations and decision-making.
