What happens after Safe Work Month? Over the past few weeks, teams across Programmed have been having conversations about safety from a few different perspectives. We’ve thought about why working safely matters to us personally, the effect work can have on our health, and last week, we asked what we could improve to make safer workplaces in the future. Our focus in our final week of Safe Work Month revolves around For All – all the conversations we’ve had throughout October lead us here.   **Ideas become improvements** We’ve asked what you could change to make your work safer – some of these ideas can be immediately actioned by teams, but some may need some additional support from the business. We’ve emphasised the importance of actioning ideas long after October. So this week, we’re asking each team to look back at the ideas that have been raised during last week’s conversations and choose one worthwhile improvement and commit to taking it forward. --- **Make it something you can follow through on** Once you’ve chosen your improvement, you need to make a clear plan on how you’re going to progress it. If it’s within your team’s control right now, feel free to get started, and if you need help from another area of Programmed, get them on board to keep things moving. You might encounter barriers to implementing an improvement. If you do, work through what’s getting in the way, involve the right people and consider how the improvement can be progressed safely and effectively. Throughout the month, we’ve focused on Safety Starts Here and the decisions that we make at the point of work. As we finish up the month, we’re building upon this idea by choosing something we can make safer, committing to doing something about it, and then keeping it moving once October is over.
