Work and Smile Selfie Challenge - Your Reason 'Why' - June 2026 edition

Written by Communications | Jun 22, 2026 12:25:00 AM

Submit your selfie to WIN!

Welcome to the June edition of our Work and Smile Selfie Challenge and first edition of our 'Your Reason "Why"' challenge!

For some people, work is about personal growth and opportunity (For Me). For others, it’s about supporting family (For Us), being part of a team (For We), or making a difference in the community (For All Of Us). Sometimes it’s the big goals that drive us - and sometimes it’s the little everyday moments that make work feel worthwhile.

In this challenge, we're asking which "Why" resonates with you. Our selfies this month were overflowing in both quality and quantity, but we've ultimately handed this month's top selfie to Shev Gardiner as she and her team increase the visibility of women in trades!

Each quarter, we'll be sharing a new challenge theme, with your selfies going into the draw to win a $250 AUD gift card!* We'll be sharing your submissions each month and shortlisting a top selfie, with the shortlisted entries voted on by YOU at the end of each quarter to decide our overall winner.

Find out more and submit your selfie for this quarter's prize by clicking below!

*Terms and conditions apply - see submission page for more information

Ian Mar
Electrician, VIC

"The lovely, hard working colleagues I work with and also the passengers at the airport where I work that you help and make a difference.

This is actually a colleague of mine who works at the airport with me, after cleaning the spill under a conveyor from a sewer burst. Absolute gun."

Ian Banks
Drone Pilot - specialising in heavy lift drones, NZ

"My reason why is the mix of technology, travel, and solving real problems on real sites. Based in Katikati, I get to work across New Zealand using drones for agricultural spraying and chemical roof treatment, from large hotels through to sprawling industrial sites. Operating equipment like the DJI T50, with its 40L tank, means we can cover large areas efficiently while still working with precision and control.

What makes me work and smile is knowing the job has a real purpose. It supports my family, relies on good teamwork, and helps make maintenance safer by keeping people off roofs and reducing the need for risky access equipment. It is rewarding to use smart technology to help clients maintain important buildings in a safer, faster, and less disruptive way."

Darrell Mills
Wide Area Mower Operator, VIC

"Friday another job done by the team"

Daniel Hastings
Team Leader, NSW

"Driving small Machinery and maintaining sites makes me smile - yes, under that mask I AM smiling 😃!"
