Congratulations to Kilby Todd for taking out Bendigo TAFE's Apprentice of the Year: Painting and Decorating and for winning the 2023 Bendigo Master Builders Victoria Apprentice of the Year Award.
Nominated by her teacher Shane Kennedy from Bendigo Kangan Institute, Kilby accepted her award last month at The Bendigo TAFE Apprentice and Industry Annual Awards night. As a third-year apprentice, Kilby has been completing her apprenticeship alongside our Programmed painters in the Bendigo region and has been recognised for her quality work and attention to detail on job sites.
Kilby joined the Programmed team in January 2021 as a 1st-year apprentice painter, describing her decision as a 'happy accident', which has turned out to be one of her best moves. The year was 2020, and Kilby was destined to play college volleyball in the US; however, Covid had other plans. Kilby had always been creative/artistic and very detailed orientated. She was keen to pursue a trade and researched options, concluding a painting apprenticeship was a perfect fit.
Well done, Kilby!
