This Friday, we share a recent engagement in Karratha, WA by a team member with an inspiring commitment for keeping our teams safe.
Mark Noble, our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager in Western Australia, is driven by a deep commitment to ensuring a safe work environment. He firmly believes that effective safety systems should support workers by addressing practical needs rather than imposing additional bureaucratic burdens.
Mark recently undertook an important visit to Karratha to engage directly with the teams on-site, evaluate safety practices, and understand the unique challenges faced by employees in their daily operations.
During his time in Karratha, Mark met with various teams including the Catering Team and the Cleaning Team at Karratha Gas Plant, the Woodside Town Services Team, and the Department of Communities Team. These meetings were instrumental in providing Mark with firsthand insights into the operational environments and the specific safety concerns each team encountered.
Throughout his discussions, Mark emphasised the importance of understanding real-world conditions and integrating employee feedback into safety protocols. He acknowledged that safety documentation alone is insufficient - genuine safety is achieved through active listening and responsive action to the challenges employees face.
Mark's visit served as a significant reminder of the purpose and fulfillment inherent in Mark’s role. Observing the dedication and resilience of the teams reinforced his commitment to developing safety measures that are both practical and protective. The gratitude expressed by employees highlighted the impact of his efforts and the importance of a management approach that prioritises their well-being.
This trip was not just an evaluation of safety practices, but a reaffirmation of Mark's dedication to creating a safe workplace. The insights gained from this visit will undoubtedly inform future safety strategies, ensuring that they are grounded in the realities of the working environment and aligned with the needs of the employees - For Me, For We, For Us, and For All Of Us.
