Brewing good vibes at the Salvation Army Coffee Booth

18 July 2025 12:00:00 AM | Programmed Facility Management Brewing good vibes at the Salvation Army Coffee Booth

Serving up smiles for the Salvos. ☕

This Friday, we share a story so good it was submitted by two different participants of the same activity!

Thanks to Facility Management's Krista Sambuco, Purchasing Lead, and Josie Sloane, Operations Manager, today's story paints a picture of community care for Volunteer Week.

"This year, in celebration of National Volunteer Week, our team had the pleasure of rolling up our sleeves and lending a helping hand at the Salvos Coffee Shop, run by the Salvation Army. Volunteer Week is all about giving back to the community, and we couldn’t have asked for a more rewarding experience.

Armed with paintbrushes and a can-do attitude, we got to work giving parts of the shop a fresh coat of paint. The real highlight of the day, however, was installing a vibrant green wall, a vertical garden feature that instantly brought new life and colour to the environment."

"On Tuesday 20th May Krista Sambuco, Lily Green and Rob Trigg from the WA Contracts & Commercial department volunteered to assist Josie Sloane (WA Operations Manager) to paint and decorate The Salvation Army Coffee Booth in Northbridge.

The Coffee Booth is part of The Salvation Army Perth Fortress, where they offer delicious coffee, sweet and savoury delights to the local community in addition to a great initiative where you can ‘pay it forward’ for those in need. The Perth Fortress also engage in promoting, financially supporting and raising awareness of social justice issues, The Fortress Band and so much more.

The decorating was the brainchild of Aaron Stobie, the Corps Officer and our PFM team assisted with providing paint (kindly donated by Bunnings), installing a green wall and modgepodgeing (adhering paper to surfaces) with old song music.

One of our vendors, Peter from Peter Barker Electrical was on the tools, installing the green wall and fastening old instruments to the walls. The result was an amazing transformation creating an even more inviting space for the community. A great, fun and productive day was had by all with a rewarding sense of achievement."
