This Friday, Programmed Facility Management’s Asset and Playground Team in Auckland, including Jaye Nye, Andrew Osborne, Jaco Minnie, James Stewart, Esta Irwin, Junior Cassidy and Sukhjant Singh, give us a wide range of reasons their work makes them Work and Smile.

Fueled by a love for creativity and getting their hands dirty, our Asset and Playground team for Auckland City Council work hard to keep the city’s parks and playgrounds safe and functional for everyday use.

With a new racking system designed at 55 The Concourse, Auckland Depot, the team was tasked with moving a lot of materials, but accompanying this hard work, the team cited a whole host of reasons to Work and Smile.

Creating joy and community impact

The work undertaken by the team focuses on creating spaces and experiences that bring joy to people, especially children. Seeing the happiness and excitement on children’s faces as they play is immensely rewarding.

Likewise, playgrounds are important community spaces where people of all ages gather to have fun and socialise. Being part of a team that creates these spaces means contributing to the well-being and happiness of the local community.

Physical Activity and Health

Playgrounds encourage physical activity, which is crucial for maintaining good health, especially in children. Knowing that our work promotes active, healthy lifestyles can be incredibly gratifying.

Variety in Work

Working in a playground team often involves a variety of tasks. This diversity keeps the job interesting and allows the team to continually learn and grow.

Long-Term Impact

Playgrounds have a lasting impact on communities. Knowing that our work will be enjoyed by generations to come gives all of the team a sense of pride and purpose.

A huge thanks to Mark D'Silva for submitting this great story and a huge shoutout to the team for such wonderful reasons to Work and Smile, spanning 'For Me', 'For We', and 'For All of Us'!
