Helping Hands and Cat Carriers - an act of kindness by a team member

This Friday, we share a super sweet story about a trip home from a job, a good deed for our community, and strangers becoming new friends!

Stej Jerkovic, a Plumber at Melbourne Airport, was recently traveling home when he noticed a person and her furry friend in need of a lift. He had this heartwarming story to share about the encounter:

"Driving back from a job just now I saw a lady on the corner of Centre Rd and Apac Drive walking holding a pet carrier in the strong winds. I did a u-turn and asked if she would like a lift anywhere.

Her name was Hai and she just arrived from Sydney and had picked up her cat, Peri. She needed to get to her residence on Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn and said she was having problems getting an Uber to pick her up from the location I saw her. She wasn't sure where to go so I suggested to drop her off at Maccas on Airport Drive which would make it very easy for her to book a driver.

Peri was hiding under the blanket so I didn't get a chance to see her, however Hai was happy to show me a f ew photos on her, especially the photo on her phone home screen wallpaper. I could tell Peri meant a long to Hai. She told me a story of another difficult incident she had in the past in trying to get an Uber at night. So travelling with Peri must be a regular thing.

Hai was very grateful and was happy for a selfie with me."

What a wonderful act of kindness! A huge thanks to Stej for sharing this lovely story and example of how the ways we Work and Smile make our community smile too!
