Keeping WA on track and flowing with the Procurement team

31 July 2026, 12:00:00 am AEST | Work and Smile Keeping WA on track and flowing with the Procurement team

Trains and taps - keeping WA moving 🚆💧

This Friday, we’re heading behind the scenes at two very different WA operations - from modern train manufacturing in Bellevue to the essential water and wastewater infrastructure keeping Rottnest Island running.

🚂 Alstom

"Great to visit the Alstom facility in Bellevue, Perth alongside our Programmed Facility Manager and see firsthand the scale and precision behind modern train manufacturing.

From assembly and fit-out through to the coordination across safety, maintenance, and operations, it was impressive to see the level of collaboration and expertise at every stage. Equally clear was the critical role that procurement play in enabling this success — ensuring the right partners, materials, and agreements are in place to keep delivery on track and risks well managed.

A valuable opportunity to gain insight into the work happening behind the scenes to support WA’s major infrastructure projects, and the strong partnerships that make it all possible.

 ðŸ’§ Wadjemup Rottnest Island

"Great to visit Rottnest Island and spend time with Procurement's Sameer Maisuria and Pasko Mikulandra, Water & Wastewater Treatment Supervisor, who has been a dedicated Programmed team member on the island for over 30 years.

It was fascinating to learn more about the critical infrastructure that keeps the island running — from wastewater treatment through to the production and management of desalinated water. Seeing the complexity and care involved highlighted the importance of planning, sustainability, and operational excellence in such a unique and remote environment.

Equally evident was the value of strong procurement practices and vendor contract management in supporting these essential services — ensuring reliable supply, compliant systems, and trusted partnerships that keep everything operating seamlessly.

Pasko’s deep connection to Rottnest really stood out. From raising his family here to serving as Captain of the Rottnest Island Volunteer Fire Brigade, his passion and commitment to the island community are truly inspiring.

A great opportunity to understand the work happening behind the scenes to support one of WA’s most iconic destinations — and the people and partnerships that make it all possible."
