This Friday, safety is getting physical! Faced with the challenge of waking up a conference room first thing in the morning, Darren and Anita pulled out the lycra, stretches and 80s energy to get everyone moving - and talking about injury prevention.
"At the recent NZ Commercial Painting conference in Wellington, National HSE Manager Darren Hodgetts and Injury Management & Recovery at Work Coordinator Anita Teo-Tavita were given the unenviable task of talking about safety and wellbeing first thing in the morning. With coffee yet to kick in for the attendees, they knew they had to pull off something awe inspiring to capture attention and inspire the call to action around reducing avoidable injuries and improving our injury management performance.
Queue the 80's inspired Jazzercise themed presentation! For 40mins Darren had everyone on their feet trying warmups and stretching, sharing ideas for engaging pre-starts, and talking about how our Painters are being hurt at work and at home while Anita talked about what good looks like, influencing a positive safety culture, and how Programmed can support everyone getting home to their whanau and enjoy a life unaffected by pain and injury.
Given the quality of the jokes there's a strong probability that many of the smiles were in fact grimaces, but one thing is for sure - wellbeing was big, bright and front of mind for everyone and weeks later key messages and ideas shared are still flowing through our NZ Paint Branches."
Thank you Darren Hodgetts - National HSE Manager for this super fun story and sharing your creativity!
