Michelle Anderson: 25 Years of Making Things Work
The Person Everyone Quietly Depends On
There are people who keep things moving without making a fuss — and Michelle Anderson is one of them. For 25 years, she’s been the steady, reliable centre of the SA/NT Admin team for Property Services. No noise, no drama, no need for attention. Michelle gets things done properly, and in doing so, makes everyone else’s day that little bit easier.
While the rest of the world rushes, Michelle’s quiet strength is a reminder that calm is its own kind of power — one that gets real results.
“Calm isn’t something she tries to project — it’s simply how she shows up every day. She’s Captain Calm, my ‘set-and-forget’ team leader,” says her manager, Lyndelle Campbell, who has worked alongside Michelle for many of her 25 years.
Michelle just gets the job done: not even the annual Contractor Accreditation Limited (CAL) accreditation rattles her.
CAL is the NT’s recognised pre-qualification for contractors and subcontractors seeking work over $100,000 — a highly detailed, highly regulated, and highly stressful annual process. It’s a minefield of paperwork that can overwhelm even seasoned operators.
Michelle makes this marathon look easy. Because of her, something that could be a yearly headache runs smoothly, consistently, and without fuss.
“Michelle brings clarity when things get chaotic. Her sense of humour brings joy to even the busiest days. Michelle, you truly are inspirational calm in any storm.”
- Janna Kakko,
Administration Officer, Property Services SA
The Humour, the Rituals, and the Team She Lifts
Quick-witted and quietly funny, Michelle leads a team whose unofficial theme song could honestly be “We’re All in This Together.” The loud, infectious giggles from her corner have been known to draw half the SA office over just to see what the Admin trio is laughing about.
And on the Mondays when she’s not in? You notice.
The atmosphere drops a notch — not least because the unmistakable “ding” of Michelle’s phone announcing the coffee van is missing, along with her trademark march toward caffeine.
She’s also the one who reminds everyone about leftover catering or asks if garlic bread should accompany the pizza order — small gestures that say a lot about the kind of person she is. And it would be remiss not to mention the number of times she’s offered to add lollies to an order just to reach the minimum spend.
“I want to thank Michelle for giving me the best days of my career. Being guided by her has made every challenge easier and every success brighter.”
— Jo McClelland,
Administration Officer, Property Services SA
The business trip Lee Kell, General Manager - Southern Region Commercial Painting, took with Michelle will forever be a core memory:
“One of my highlights was taking Michelle out on a road trip last year to visit the Barossa and Riverland branches. After spending most of her career holding things together from the Adelaide office, it was great to get her out in the field for the first time, and we had a fantastic few days on the road visiting the regional branches.
I always say to new starters, never upset the admin team, they’re the backbone of the business. Michelle is exactly that. She’s a quiet achiever who gets things done, supports everyone, and is always the one behind the scenes assisting with our social events, morning teas, and celebrations.”
Michelle, thank you for your dedication and everything you do to keep us moving. You truly are the glue that holds so many of us together.
Congratulations on 25 years!
