It’s hard to believe that we’ve already arrived at the end of 2023, but what a phenomenal year it’s been for us here at Programmed Facility Management.
Through successfully actioning the strategy within our Mid-Term Business Plan, we’ve continued to demonstrate our value as a meaningful contributor to the PERSOL APAC region.
All that we’ve achieved would not be possible without your hard work and commitment, so I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone across our Programmed community for your incredible efforts this year.
But before we head off, I wanted to share a quick recap on some of the recent highlights rounding out an outstanding year.
Making progress on our Mid-Term Business Plan
Earlier this year, we shared extracts of our Mid-Term Business Plan (MTBP), spanning April 2023 to March 2026 and helping us to achieve the many goals that we’ve set for ourselves at Programmed.
We’re now around nine months into the deployment of this plan, which has seen us action our strategy with a number of exciting initiatives and achievements in 2023.
We’ve strengthened our soft service capabilities with the acquisition of AEGIS and our new partnership with 29Metals, and we’ve diversified our business mix through new, culturally aligned partnerships with Yarra Ranges Council, The National Archives Office and Urban Utilities.
We’ve kept our focus on ESG and our communities’ sustainable future through our extended partnership with Water Corporation, and we’ve continued to foster strong relationships in extended partnerships with Sydney Airport, Transperth, and The Salvation Army.
We’ve demonstrated our commitment to cultural engagement through initiatives creating job opportunities for people with disability, the launch of our new First Nations uniforms, and offered skills development for people from diverse backgrounds in partnership with SPARK.
And we continue to look at our technology offerings internally and externally, to help bring about innovation and improvements. ProSafe is one such project, where the staff have now made it possible to capture Customer Feedback within the app and also for our teams to submit their own innovations within iHub form in ProSafe.
Finally, recognising our people are our most critical asset, we’ve continued to offer growth and development opportunities through initiatives such as this year’s Future Minds conference on the Gold Coast and introduced new opportunities through the recent acquisition of Urban Maintenance Services.
This just scratches the surface of a year that’s been filled with success, growth, and opportunity. We have a lot to be proud of, and I can’t wait for the new initiatives to come, activating our strategy and celebrating our successes in 2024!
Hearing your voice through our Engagement Survey
A huge thank you to all team members who took the time to participate in this year’s Engagement Survey. As always, your feedback and insights play an enormous part in helping us to chart our way forward as a business and to foster an environment of belonging and pride at Programmed.
We were pleased to see a positive shift in our salaried workforce engagement score from 2022, rising to hit 70% in 2023. We’re proud to be tracking in the right direction and improving our collective sense of connection to the business in many areas, but we know there’s always room to improve in building a culture we can all be proud of.
Our leaders have engaged in debrief sessions regarding their Engagement Survey results, and our current Engagement Action Plans will be reviewed using these insights to ensure that we’re on track and continuing to focus on the most appropriate areas.
Stay tuned for more on the Survey results and how we’ll be responding to them as a business in the new year!
Finding fulfilment with Work and Smile
This year has seen the Programmed APAC team widely embrace our Group vision of ‘Work and Smile’. We’ve been reminded that our work should bring fulfilment – whether that’s personally (For Me), as part of a team (For We), for your family and friends (For Us), or for your community and society (For all of us).
One of the most rewarding parts of sharing this vision has been discovering the things about work that bring you fulfilment. Colleagues from across our community have graciously shared the unique stories behind their smiles, and I, along with the Programmed Leadership Team, have been moved by these insights. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to hear even more of your stories in the new year, including insights from our leadership team, as we continue to bring Work and Smile to life in new and exciting ways.
In the short video below, I go into a bit more detail about what Work and Smile means to me, personally.
Wrapping up an outstanding 2023
What an incredible year it’s been. We’ve achieved a huge amount, and you should all be very proud. I’m looking forward to reflecting on and celebrating the year that’s been by spending the Christmas break with my family in Maryborough, which is a small country town in Victoria; with my mother turning 90 in March, every Christmas Day, I get to spend with her becomes more special by the year. I am also fortunate to enjoy a further festive catch-up on Boxing Day with my wife’s family in the beautiful seaside town of Warrnambool. At these catchups and when I also meet up with friends over the break, I proudly share that I work for Programmed, and sincerely hope you have a same sense of pride in our company and for the work you deliver for our customers and communities. And with that, I wish you, your families and friends, a safe and fun festive season; remember to be vigilant on the roads and make sure you give your loved ones a special hug for me, as their support to each and every one of us is an enormous enabler to our joint success as a business. An extra big shoutout and thank you to our frontline teams who will continue to deliver services over this period, keeping us all running in the lead up to another bumper year in 2024.
