Forward Focus in 2024 - Update from CEO Graeme Hurn

Feb 6, 2024 2:39:07 PM | From Our Leaders Forward Focus in 2024 - Update from CEO Graeme Hurn

Welcome back to a bright new year at Programmed Facility Management.

Welcome back to a bright new year at Programmed Facility Management.
I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable festive season, and for those lucky enough, a restful break. A big shoutout to our teams who kept things running throughout this period and have helped to lead us all into an exciting new year full of growth and opportunity.

To begin this update, I’d like you to ask yourself, what’s your reason for staying safe at work? Is it your family, friends, pet, or even just being in good nick for your hobbies or sports activities?

We’re encouraging all of our Programmed team to consider their own reasons to stay safe through our ‘Rewind and Remind – Switch onto Safety in 2024’ campaign. It’s essential that we keep these reasons front of mind and then take action every day to make sure that we and our workmates stay safe at work.

And it’s not just our physical safety we need to be mindful of – please make sure to shoutout if you need an extra hand and speak up if you need help with any work tasks or are struggling with life’s challenges. If you don’t feel comfortable speaking up to your colleagues, remember you can always contact our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Below, you can find more tips to ‘Rewind and Remind’, as well as more information about the EAP services we have available.

Paving the way forward with our Mid-Term Business Plan

The hard work and commitment of our teams across the organisation led us to some exceptional results in 2023, and we have even more to look forward to as we get into the swing of this next chapter.

Guided by a sharp focus on our Mid-Term Business Plan objectives, the year ahead will see us continue to build the company and culture we want to work for through actioning initiatives both outside and within our business, supporting our purpose and values, and driving us forward into the future.

One of our standout achievements last year was the acquisition of Urban Maintenance Services (UMS), expanding our service offerings as well as career opportunities for our employees. We wrapped up the transition of the acquisition process in December, and the first quarter of this year will see us focus on embracing and integrating the new business.

The addition of UMS and various other new contracts and acquisitions to our portfolio has seen us welcome 244 new team members into our Programmed community since this time last year, helping us to increase our operational capacity on the ground and giving us new voices in shaping our Programmed Facility Management culture

And while we’re proud of our achievements and excited by our continued growth journey, it’s essential that we keep our core value of Customer Service front of mind at all times, continuing to deliver the excellent service that we’re known for to our existing and much valued customers.

Enriching our culture and communities with reasons to Work and Smile

We’re focused on continuing to enrich our culture through a diverse and inclusive workplace that enables our employees to grow and thrive. Through activating rich and meaningful initiatives, we want our Programmed community to feel proud of their work, contributing to their reasons to Work and Smile.

Over the last few months, we’ve been asking leaders from across the business about their own reasons to Work and Smile – you can find out what they had to say in this YouTube playlist.

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of hosting a booth at Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival Carnival, demonstrating our commitment to meaningful engagement with our diverse local communities and showcasing our workplace as a safe and inclusive environment for prospective job seekers.

It was a brilliant day of fun and engagement, filled with insightful conversation and countless attendees showing a real curiosity for what we do - walking away with flyers, merchandise, and even some popcorn and fairy floss. The following video is just a snippet of a hugely successful day.

And on that note, I’ll wrap up my first update for 2024. Thank you all again for all of your hard work in delivering for our customers and communities and enabling the continued success of Programmed Facility Management. We have plenty to do, so let’s get going!

Take care and stay safe,

Graeme Hurn
