WA's sustainability stars champion Containers for Change

Sustainability has always been at the forefront of what we do at Programmed. In another step toward reducing our environmental footprint, we're thrilled to share the introduction of the Containers for Change program at Golden Grove, joining Wadjemup Rottnest Island as WA's sustainability stars.

In collaboration with Western Australia Return Recycle Renew (WARRRL), this initiative expands recycling efforts at the mine site and brings additional benefits to the wider community.

Previously limited to aluminium cans, recycling at Golden Grove now covers all eligible drink containers. For every container collected, a 10-cent refund will be donated by 29Metals to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), a cause that provides crucial medical care to remote regions.

This initiative wouldn’t have been possible without the leadership of Talia Ford, our Sustainability Lead at Programmed, whose passion for environmental stewardship and community welfare has been pivotal.

This program is a great way to make recycling more effective on-site while giving back to a service that’s vital to rural Australia," said Talia. "It’s a win-win for the environment and for the communities we serve."

In a unique partnership, the MoTown Community Shed in Morawa will coordinate the collection of containers, and they too will benefit through reimbursement from the Containers for Change scheme.

This collaboration not only boosts recycling efforts at Golden Grove but also supports the community’s initiatives in Morawa.

Golden Grove’s Commercial Manager, Vinay Paul, highlighted the significance of this program. “It's a win for the environment, for RFDS, and for the MoTown Community Shed,” he said.

Our participation in the Containers for Change program is an important installment in our proud history of sustainability initiatives, reflecting our values of environmental responsibility and community engagement.

We've been heartened by the Golden Grove team's enthusiasm for the program, and we look forward to continuing to work together to make a meaningful difference.

Here’s to a greener, more sustainable future!
