Your push is power – Join The Push-Up Challenge this June

Getting strong and strengthening mental health in Australia.

This June, an ambitious team from Programmed is set to participate in The Push-Up Challenge, a nationwide initiative aiming to raise awareness and funds for mental health support across Australia.

From 4-26 June, these team members will complete 3,214 push-ups over 23 days, symbolising the number of Australians who lost their lives to suicide in 2021. The challenge inspires participants to improve their physical and mental fitness, raise funds to help make a difference to mental health in Australia, and have some fun along the way.

Championing from lived experience

The initiative has been spearheaded by Jonathon Chambers, HSEQ coordinator, who has been inspired to participate by his own moving story, which he graciously shared with us below:

“In 2001, I was involved in a serious car accident that required multiple surgeries and a long road to recovery. Returning to work and everyday life took years and came with lasting physical and mental challenges. At the time, I didn’t realise how much speaking to a professional could have helped.

“That’s why the Push-Up Challenge resonates so deeply with me. It’s more than a fitness initiative - it’s a chance to raise awareness about mental health, honour those we’ve lost, and remind ourselves to lead with empathy.

“I’m proud to be joining fellow Programmed colleagues in supporting Lifeline’s crucial work in crisis support and early intervention for depression, anxiety, and suicide. Together, we can make a difference - one push-up at a time!”
