When using the search function on the intranet, it looks for all types of content, including documents, posters, news alerts etc. Read below for tips on how to narrow down search results.
Where to start your search
- To search the entire Intranet, start on the home page search box
- To search only the subsite (eg. Human Resources), go to the home page for that section.
- To search only the Integrated Management System (IMS) for controlled documents, go to the IMS home page.
Search scopes
There are four scopes available for searching:
- Everything (all content, pages, documents and items in both the IMS and Intranet)
- People (staff directory, includes some shared mailbox accounts)
- All Documents (all document libraries in the IMS and Intranet)
- IMS (only the current IMS documents)
Note: You can choose the scope before you search from the search box.
Search terms
- For best results, start with a single word, then add more words to your search if you get too many results.
- To search for a phrase, use double quotes (eg. "drug and alcohol procedure")
- You can use a field type in the search box (see table below) to narrow your search to words contained in specific metadata or properties.

Example of searching for the HSEQ Management Plan
Searching for hse management plan, will return results with the words hse, management or plan within the document.
Total search results: 1541
If you use quotation marks (or double brackets) “hse management plan”, this will narrow down the results because it is looking for hse management plan only, not 3 different words.
Total search results: 40
Our best tip, if you know a word/s in the title of the document, search as title: “management plan”. This will look only for documents with management plan in the name of the document.
Total search results: 25
Results can be narrowed down even further by entering the full name of the document eg “HSEQ Management Plan”
Total search results: 6
