Resist the rush and remember what matters most

Dec 1, 2025 11:19:35 AM | Safety & Wellbeing Resist the rush and remember what matters most

The end-of-year rush can bring increased pressure, tighter deadlines, and unfortunately, greater workplace risk.

The festive season is a time for celebration; however, it is also a very busy time that can bring about unique safety risks both at work and at home.

It’s important to stay alert, keep safety front of mind and remember your reason for staying safe.

Key Safety Tips:

  • Stay focused: Distractions, increased workloads and changes in staffing are common during this busy time. Double-check your tasks and avoid short cuts.
  • Manage fatigue: Social events, travel, and changes in routine can lead to tiredness. Make sure you get enough rest before each shift.
  • Be aware of your alcohol consumption: Remember, workplace policies still apply. Never come to work under the influence and report any concerns.
  • Support each other: The festive season can be challenging for some. Reach out for support if you need it and check in with your teammates with a Pulse Check.
Where further support is needed our EAP provider Converge can be reached 24/7 by calling 1300 687 327 (Australia) and 0800 666 367 (New Zealand).
  • Look out for hazards: Decorations, temporary setups, and unfamiliar tasks can introduce new risks. Keep work areas tidy and report anything unsafe.
  • Travel safely: Whether commuting or heading away, plan your journey, take breaks, and avoid distractions.
